For those looking for a truly glamorous and luxurious 5 star holiday experience this
year could do no better than stay at Woodhey Hall on the outskirts of the picturesque
village of Faddiley, in the heart of the Cheshire countryside. This recently renovated, stunning complex of two self-catering Elizabethan Barns, offers large groups of family or friends (up to 10 for Cromwells Manor and 6 for The Carthouse) or smaller groups at a discount, a taste of the high life close to a delightful working farm. With sweeping and impressive views across the Cheshire plains, each of the two sumptuous lets are fitted out with the ultimate in five star luxury. With four poster beds, top-of-the-range modern kitchens, expensively furnished sitting rooms, there is little that has not been thought of to ensure guests a most comfortable and enjoyable stay. The main building, Woodhey Hall, has quite a distinguished history and was once owned by wealthy local landowner Elizabeth Wilbraham. A private chapel was also built within the hall's grounds and people who make a reservation can be given a specially guided tour. Perhaps one of the most interesting facts about Woodhey Hall itself, is that arch republican, Oliver Cromwell was reputed to have stayed there during the 17th century Civil War. Major battles took place in the nearby town of Nantwich and the city of Chester. Reenactments of the 'Battle of Nantwich' take place most years, with many local people kitted out in Roundhead or Royalist regalia. But perhaps one of the most exciting aspects of a stay in Faddiley is that it is close to so many interesting towns, cities and attractions.

If it's a rural escape you're after, then people can fully immerse themselves
in farm life, and help look after the local horses, rabbits and ducks. There's many a quiet country lane to cycle or ramble along, and plenty of delightful country tea rooms and public houses to try out in the surrounding area. But, for more serious walkers, the Peak District, Shropshire Hills, Snowdonia and Clwydian range of North Wales are all but a stone's throw away. And indeed, for those in need of some serious retail therapy, then there's the shopping meccas of Chester, Manchester and Liverpool all approximately an hour's drive away. Moreover, there's a whole host of other opportunities for fun in and around this area, which will be listed in the course of the year as this website is developed more fully. It's very much hoped guests will add their own recollections about favourite places or restaurants they have visited to this site as well.
